EQUIPMENT
Handling and securing your cargo during shipment is important to us. With this in mind, we have invested in quality equipment that caters to a wide range of shipping needs. Certainly, knowing your cargo is safe during shipment brings peace of mind and we have a variety of specialized equipment to meet your needs:
- Containers – used to ship a variety of dry cargo such as groceries, beverages, furniture etc. They range in sizes 20’, 40’ and 45’ containers.
- Reefers – temperature controlled containers used to ship perishable cargo like produce, meats etc. They range in sizes 20’ and 40’ reefers.
- Chassis – used to easily haul containers, reefers, flatracks and tanks. They range in sizes 20’, 40’ and 45’ chassis.
- Flatracks – used to ship a variety of cargo such as cement pallets, septic tanks, out-of-gauge steel etc. They range in sizes 20’ and 40’ flatracks.

- Cargo weight includes all packaging and dunnage. It is the gross vehicle weight, less tractor, chassis and container tare weights.
- All flatracks, flatbeds and open trailer shipments must be secured via strapping for transit.
- Overweight permits may be available for containers.
- CFS/CFS (Container Freight Station to Container Freight Station) means stuffed/unstuffed at the Port.
*20’ Flatrack side openings are equivalent to 18’6”
*40’ Flatrack side openings are equivalent to 38’3”
* Published measurements reflect internal dimensions of the container. Actual loading capacity is based on cargo type and cargo dimensions.
Strapping Equipment
All cargo is required to be properly strapped to flatracks, flatbeds and open trailers prior to Bahamas Freight taking possession. Straps can be supplied by customers or purchased from Bahamas Freight.
Strapping Specifications
- Bahamas Freight is unable to transport any open trailer shipments that are not properly secured by straps.
- Straps can be shipped back to customers for further use at no additional cost once arrangements are made to properly pack and return the straps after delivery.
- In the event Bahamas Freight has to strap cargo for transit an additional strapping fee will be applied as per standard Tariff.
